Beautiful Kawakawa Pounamu carved into a lovely freeform Niho or Tooth pendant.

Deeply woven into the fabric of MÄori lore, taniwha are mighty, mystical beings who serve as protectors and guides. When honoured and respected, they become fierce kaitiaki (guardians) not only of people but places as well. With the ability to shapeshift, in the water they could be sharks, whales, giant squids, while on land they could be dragon-like creatures forming a connection between the physical and spiritual worlds.Â
The sacred stone of Aotearoa. Pounamu of this beautiful land encompasses nephrite jade, serpentine, and tangiwai (bowenite). To the MÄori of New Zealand, Pounamu (greenstone) is more than just a stone, it is a taonga (treasure) woven into the spiritual and cultural fabric of their ancestors.
